What Causes Dental Disease In Pets?

Like humans, bacteria from leftover food builds up in your pets mouth, causing plaque. If left untreated, it turns into tartar, which causes tooth decay and gum disease.

How Do I Know if My Pet Needs Care?

Signs your pet needs a dental exam include:

●          Extremely bad breath

●          Trouble chewing

●          Drooling

●          Swelling around the mouth or face

●          Discolored or broken teeth

●          Rubbing its face with its paws or on the rug

How Often Will My Pet Need a Cleaning?

We may recommend a cleaning once a year but this can vary depending on several factors, including age and overall health.

Will My Pet Need to Be Put under Anesthesia?

Typically, yes. It is usually better for pets to be anesthetized for dental cleanings, so the vet can do a thorough cleaning. Dental cleaning is only possible if the pet is still during the procedure. It's also for the safety of the pet and the vet.

Should I Brush My Pets' Teeth at Home?

It can be a good idea. Brushing your pet's teeth at home can help cut down on the amount of plaque build up. Be sure to use toothpaste made for pets, however.
